Researchers have found a sharp rise in dementia and other neurological deaths in people younger than 74 that is not due to people living longer. These conditions are increasingly starting before the age of 55. America had the largest increase in neurological deaths among the 10 largest Western countries, at 66 percent elektra monterrey for men and 92 percent for women from 1979 to 2010, or 14,500 deaths in 1979 compared to 28,500 deaths in 2010. There is a need to recognize that this is an epidemic elektra monterrey that is clearly influenced by environmental and societal changes, according elektra monterrey to lead investigator Prof. Colin Pritchard, Bournemouth University. The researchers insist this increase cannot be due to genetics because the period is too short. They also state that an increase in an elderly population does not account for the earlier onset; the differences from country to country; or that women have been more affected. The fact that women s lives have changed more than men s during this period points to multiple environmental elektra monterrey factors, per the researchers. Some environmental changes cited include: an explosion in the use of electronic devices; increases in background non-ionizing radiation from PCs, microwaves, TVs and cell phones; road and air transport causing a four-fold increase in background petro-chemical pollution; and chemical additives to food. There is no one factor, rather an interaction between many environmental triggers and changes in other conditions. As examples the researchers compare how cancer deaths are substantially lower but cancer incidences continue to rise; levels of asthma are unprecedented; the fall in male sperm counts; and the increase in auto-immune diseases are all indicative of life style and environmental influences. Their research elektra monterrey has been published in the journal Public Health.
